FAQs
What are the fees for therapy?
Fees for therapy sessions are based on the Australian Psychological Society's national schedule of recommended fees. Please get into contact to discuss in more detail.
Can I get a Medicare rebate?
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP and you are attending therapy in person, you are entitled to some rebate from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Can I get anything back from my private healthcare?
Rebate from private health funds varies between providers. Please get in touch with your health fund for more information.
Can I have a session via Telehealth?
Yes, Tamara has limited availability for Telehealth appointments.
What is the cancellation policy?
We ask that you cancel any upcoming appointments that you cannot attend as early as possible. Due to difficulties in filling appointments last minute, cancellations less than 48 hours before your appointment will incur a cancellation fee (for which you are unable to claim a medicare rebate). 24-48 hours notice will incur a 50% fee and less than 24 hours notice will require full payment of the session fee.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to attend therapy with Tamara. However, if you are referred by your GP with a Mental Health Care Plan, you are entitled to some Medicare rebate.
Do you keep my information confidential?
All of your personal information and content discussed during therapy is kept confidential, unless you provide informed consent for information-sharing to occur (e.g. with your referring doctor). However, there are certain circumstances where we are legally obligated to disclose information, namely if you or someone else is at serious risk of harm or if your notes are subpoenaed as part of legal proceedings.
What if my need is urgent?
Tamara is not available for crisis response services. If you or a loved one is in need of urgent care, please phone 000 or attend your closest hospital.
